Age 9 is a vital time in your child’s education

Parents know their children the best. They see what sparks their child's interests and keeps them engaged, and what subjects they enjoy the most. All of this is valuable insight when deciding on the best approach to take for their education.

With the new Bury STEM Academy opening in 2020, there has never been a better time to consider your child’s educational pathway, to give them the best opportunity to progress to a school that fires their imagination and challenges them to become the innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

At Bury St Edmunds All-Through Trust we provide three phases to a child's education, with the middle phase supporting children aged 9-13 years in the way which best suits their personal development and preparing them for some of the most vital educational stages of their lives.

County Upper

Rated Outstanding by Ofsted, County Upper provides a more academic approach to your child’s education, combined with a rich variety of curriculum and extra curricular subjects.

STEM

With a greater focus on STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths), the new Academy will take a more practical, hands-on approach to learning. Pupils will also have the opportunity to work with some of the world's most forward-thinking businesses that help pupil’s to understand how STEM works in the real world and potentially creates opportunities for apprenticeships and sponsored degree programmes.

Curriculum

All children learn core subject areas, and curriculum route planners are designed to take into account both the new primary curriculum and the new GCSE specifications so that pupils' learning progresses seamlessly.

The plans ensure coherence of curriculum across the Trust and provide parents with information on what children will learn in each subject during each year of their education.
